Do you want to start a lawn care business?

The truth about how to start a lawn care business!

I’m not trying to sell you marketing tips, or how to get on the front page of search engines. There are plenty of sites out there trying to do that.

Some even go so far as to claim you can make a 6 digit income working part time running a lawn business!

Be careful of what you read, and do your own due diligence. The truth is, in order to be making 6 figures, you will probably need crews. One person can only generate so much revenue.

I am putting honest, hard learned information on this site from running a lawn care business for many years.

Some of the information comes from my many friends and associates in the industry as well.

After over a decade of trying several different lawn business structures in south Florida, I have come to the conclusion that it it just plain difficult, period! Maybe it’s different in other states………………. there are some things that work though.

The basics:

Keep the route tight, as many houses next to each other, or in the same subdivision, as possible. Each stop cost you money and takes time out of your day.

A  first page search engine placement does you no good if you get 50 leads and all of them are 20 or 30 minutes away from each other……… Referrals from next door neighbors of existing lawn care clients are much more valuable.

The way you make money in this business is to be good AND fast. Your customers won’t like the fast part, but when the going rate is $20.00 or $30.00 per cut like it is in my area, you have no choice.

To be honest, I’m not sure there is any other business out there as easy to grow as lawn maintenance.

Do a good job, do what you say you will, and the work just naturally follows.

Getting it priced right, finding good help, getting the route structured right, and turning a decent profit at the end of the day is where the real challenge is.

Big deal if you can get front page listings and a million accounts….. You have to be able manage it all. Oh, and you have to actually be turning a profit, which is not as easy as it sounds!

Spend a few minutes browsing what this site has to offer. You will find business start up tips, prize give aways, lawn care polls and quizzes, networking tips, user forums, the list goes on!
